A part of the Central Florida landscape for more
than a quarter of a century, SeaWorld Orlando presents
a comfortable, interactive look at the sea and
all its facets.
Like its counterparts in Texas, California and Ohio,
SeaWorld Orlando is dedicated to giving guests a
close up look at the oceans and their inhabitants.
From the tidal pools and lagoons of Key West and
the Caribbean to the icebergs of the Arctic, Sea
World covers almost every natural water source known
to man.
SeaWorld Orlando is owned by the Anheuser-Busch
Company, which owns and operates other SeaWorlds
around the country, as well as Busch Gardens in Tampa
and Williamsburg, Va.; Adventure Island in Tampa;
Water Country in Williamsburg; and Sesame Place,
near Philadelphia.
The park combines an educational look at marine
life with a spirit of whimsy. Shamu is almost as
recognisable as Mickey as a symbol of family theme
park fun -- almost. Serious interaction with live
killer whales, dolphins and other sea life contrasts
with the silliness of stage shows such as the Clyde
and Seamore sea lion extravaganza and the Intensity
Games water ski show.
The newest additions to the park have come in the
form of the chilly action of Wild Arctic and easy-going,
tropical colours of Key West. In April 1998, SeaWorld
unveiled its salute to the water of mythology, Journey
to Atlantis. Atlantis features a rollicking thrill
water/roller coaster ride unlike any before it.
How to Get There: SeaWorld Orlando is located in
between the Disney/Lake Buena Vista area and the
Universal/downtown Orlando area. From either direction,
visitors should take Interstate 4 to exit 28 (S.R.
528, also known as The Beeline Expressway), go south
and follow the park's signs. From International Drive,
go to Central Florida Parkway and follow the signs
to SeaWorld
